Guwahati: A Lat Mandal has been arrested by the team of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption cell for accepting bribe in Jorhat district of Assam on Friday night.
The arrested individual has been identified as Abdul Baki Sheikh, Lat Mandal of Jorhat Revenue Circle.
He was caught while taking bribe money from the complainant and was captured in the act at his home.
According to the police, Sheikh had asked the complainant for bribe money to process documents pertaining to land.
Taking to Twitter, ADGP (Law & Order) GP Singh wrote, “Today, a Team from the @DIR_VAC_ASSAM trapped red-handed at his home & arrested Md Abdul Baki Seikh, Lat Mandal, Jorhat Revenue Circle, Jorhat district after he accepted bribe money from the complainant for processing Land related documents. @assampolice @CMOfficeAssam”.
Meanwhile, a case has been filed against him under the pertinent laws.
The anti-corruption unit and the Assam Police are maintaining a close monitoring to stop all forms of corruption in the state. Numerous state government representatives were busted receiving bribes in the last few months.
