Assam: Late-Night Operation in Assam Targets Illegal Loggers in Tekeri Forest Area

Guwahati, 8th September: In a late-night operation on Thursday, forest personnel in Assam’s Tinsukia district, specifically in the Pengeri region, opened fire on illegal loggers operating in the Tekeri forest area.

The operation was initiated based on information about illegal tree-cutting activities, and forest officials from the Khatangpani forest range, under the Doom Dooma forest division, conducted the operation during the night to address the situation.

As the forest officials approached the miscreants, they attempted to flee, prompting the forest personnel to open fire in an effort to apprehend them.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported during the operation. Forest Officer Shravan Saikia led the operation after receiving specific information about illicit activities in the Tekeri forest area.
