Guwahati, 2nd May: Late-night raids conducted by the Income Tax Department targeted the shops and residences of a wholesale cotton trader, Abdul Matin, in Karimganj on May 1.
A substantial team comprising personnel from the Income Tax Department, along with assistance from Karimganj Police, carried out the raids at Abdul Matin’s shop for several hours, extending into the early hours of the morning.
During the operation, all documents and items seized from the location were meticulously examined by the authorities. However, the Income Tax Department refrained from disclosing the specifics of the seizure or any findings resulting from the raid.
Preliminary reports suggest that the raids and search operations are slated to continue into the following day, indicating ongoing scrutiny by the Income Tax Department into Abdul Matin’s affairs.
