Assam Launches Home Stay Initiative to Boost Tourism

Guwahati, 30th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced a new initiative to address the state’s tourism infrastructure challenges by introducing a home stay scheme. Speaking recently, Sarma acknowledged that despite Assam’s rich array of destinations, inadequate hotel accommodation has impeded tourism growth.

“To harness our state’s tourism potential, we are rolling out a scheme to establish home stays,” Sarma explained. He noted that in areas where large hotels are impractical due to space and infrastructure limitations, home stays offer a viable alternative. This initiative aims to provide tourists with a more personalized and authentic experience while promoting local culture and hospitality.

The state government plans to introduce new policies to facilitate and regulate the development of home stays, enhancing both the visitor experience and community engagement across various regions of Assam.
