Dhubri, August 3, 2024 — In a major breakthrough against the narcotics trade, law enforcement officials in Dhubri have successfully apprehended a long-sought drug trafficker. Iliyasur Rahman, a notorious figure in the region’s drug mafia, was arrested during a joint operation by the Golakganj police and the 48 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
Acting on a tip-off, authorities raided the Nandnipar area under the jurisdiction of the Golakganj police station, leading to Rahman’s arrest. During the raid, law enforcement officials seized 100 grams of suspected brown sugar from his possession. Rahman, infamous for orchestrating an extensive illicit narcotics network, was swiftly taken into custody.
Investigations have revealed that Rahman supplied drugs to numerous youths near the North Raipur railway gate in the Golakganj area, significantly contributing to local drug abuse and its associated social issues. His arrest has brought widespread relief and gratitude from the community, which has long suffered under the shadow of Rahman’s drug operations.
Following his arrest, Rahman was transferred to Golakganj police custody for further interrogation. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full extent of his narcotics network and collaborators.
