Assam Legislative Assembly’s Autumn Session to Commence in New Building

Guwahati, 10th September: The five-day autumn session of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly is set to begin tomorrow, marking a historic occasion as it will be the first session held in the newly constructed Assam Assembly Building in Dispur.

This significant legislative gathering will extend until September 15, 2023.

A day ahead of the session, State Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika addressed reporters, assuring a seamless and efficient session in the newly built facility. Hazarika stated, “I assure you that the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly session will be conducted smoothly in the newly constructed building with entirely new facilities.”

During the forthcoming session, the Assembly anticipates receiving approximately 23–24 bills. Notable among them are the Panchayati Raj Amendment Bill and bills aimed at transforming several institutions into universities, alongside other legislation from various departments.

Minister Hazarika also extended an appeal to all political parties to collaborate and ensure the smooth proceedings of the session. He expressed willingness on behalf of the government to allocate time for opposition leaders, promoting a spirit of cooperation in the legislative process.

The commencement of this session in the new Assembly Building signifies a milestone for Assam’s legislative process, ushering in a new era of legislative activities in the state.
