Assam: Leopard on the prowl, Section 144 clamped in Sonitpur

Guwahati: A leopard on the prowl has forced the authorities to clamp Section 144 at Kataludub Gaon village of Sonitpur district in Assam to prevent any loss of human life by restricting movement of people on Tuesday.

According to reports, the District Magistrate imposed Section 144 CrPC on Monday night, limiting general public movement during night hours in the Greater Kataludub region under Thelamara police station and neighbouring areas, citing a threat to human life, cattle, and other domestic animals.

The order will take effect immediately and will stay in effect until the leopard’s rescue effort is completed.

The leopard has injured four people in the village so far, reports claimed.
