Assam: Magisterial Probe Initiated After Tragic Road Accident Claims Seven Lives in Kakopathar

Guwahati, 6th September: A devastating road accident in Kakopathar, located in Assam’s Tinsukia district, has prompted a magisterial investigation into the incident, which tragically resulted in the loss of seven lives late Tuesday night.

The District Commissioner (DC) of Tinsukia, Swapneel Paul, has entrusted Circle Officer Doomdooma Revenue Circle, Rananmoy Bhardwaj, with the responsibility of conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter, ensuring adherence to all formalities, norms, and procedures.

The notification specifies that Bhardwaj must submit a comprehensive report, complete with observations and comments, within a 10-day period from the date of the order.

According to initial reports, the accident occurred in the Kakopathar area late at night, involving a high-speed truck colliding with a Tata Magic vehicle. Tragically, this collision claimed the lives of seven individuals, while an additional 12 sustained injuries.

Sources revealed that the group in the Tata Magic, registered as AR 20A 1093, had been returning home from the weekly market in Doomdooma town when the unfortunate incident unfolded.

Out of the 12 injured individuals, five are reportedly in critical condition and are receiving intensive medical care.

The identities of five of the deceased victims have been established. They are Paben Moran, the driver of the Tata Magic, along with Bili Baruah, Rini Gogoi, Mihidhar Neog, and Jonali Moran.
