Assam: Major Arms Cache Seized in Joint Military and Police Operation in Kokrajhar
Guwahati, 24th July: Acting on specific intelligence from Military Intelligence Tezpur, a significant cache of arms was recovered in a joint operation conducted by Military Intelligence and Kokrajhar Police. The operation, launched in the general area of Dakshin Galajoda under Kokrajhar Police Station, district Kokrajhar, led to the seizure of 11 country-made rifles.
The operation, carried out on July 23 at approximately 2050 hours, marks a crucial effort by security forces to eradicate remnants of arms and ammunition from the days of militancy in the region. This endeavor is seen as a substantial step towards improving the overall internal security situation.
Assam Director General of Police (DGP) took to social media platform X to commend the successful operation, stating, “In continuing operations against hidden weapons from the dark days of militancy, 11 country-made rifles were recovered in Kokrajhar Police Station area by @KokraP on information provided by @adgpi. We would continue to scour the entire state and remove all vestiges of militancy.”
The collaboration between the Military Intelligence and Kokrajhar Police highlights the ongoing commitment of security forces to maintain peace and security in Assam by targeting and neutralizing leftover militant arsenals.
