Assam: Major Drug Bust in Dhubri; One arrested

Guwahati, 25th July: In a significant crackdown on illicit drug activities, police surveillance and raids under the jurisdiction of the Golakganj Police Station in Dhubri district led to the arrest of an individual on Wednesday night.

The accused, Ajjal Hussain, son of Md. Hasen Ali Sheikh and a resident of Chagolia Part I village, was apprehended for his involvement in the illegal sale and distribution of narcotics. His activities reportedly included purchasing, storing, and distributing substances classified as drugs under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Reliable intelligence provided by Circle Inspector Ratul Haloi, SI Hirak Jyoti Das, and a team from the Chagolia Police Station facilitated Hussain’s arrest. In the presence of community witnesses, the police discovered and seized eighteen containers holding 20.97 grams of suspected brown sugar, commonly known as heroin.

Hussain’s actions have been deemed a serious threat to public health and safety. The ongoing investigations and legal proceedings are crucial to curbing his alleged involvement in the narcotic drug trade and restoring safety in the Dhubri district.

Police authorities confirmed that Hussain is currently under investigation for his role in the drug trade, which may encompass the manufacturing, trafficking, or possession of illegal drugs. This arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes in the region.
