Assam: Major Drug Bust in Tinsukia as Police Seize Narcotics Worth Lakhs
Guwahati, 19th May: In a significant breakthrough, Tinsukia police conducted a successful raid in the Hijuguri area on Friday, resulting in the seizure of a large quantity of drugs. The operation, part of an ongoing anti-drug drive, led to the arrest of a major drug peddler found with several lakhs worth of narcotics.
Led by Tinsukia DSP Pulakesh Rabha and Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Paragjyoti Buragohain, the raid targeted a suspect apprehended near Tinsukia railway station. The suspect had transported the drugs from East Dimapur to Tinsukia by train, concealing them in cloth bags.
Tinsukia has recently become a hotspot for drug trafficking and consumption, with areas like Panitola being particularly affected. Reports indicate that drug addicts frequent public spaces, such as the playground in front of The Baruahola School, especially during nighttime, posing challenges for local residents and authorities.
Local police, especially in Panitola, are actively combating this menace. Their efforts, coupled with the recent successful raid, demonstrate a commitment to addressing the drug problem in Tinsukia and restoring safety and order to the community.
The raid is part of a larger strategy to curb the growing drug problem in the region, which has witnessed an alarming increase in drug-related activities. Police efforts are intensifying, aiming to dismantle drug networks and prevent further proliferation of narcotics in Tinsukia.
