Assam: Major Fire Engulfs Two Business Establishments in Bihpuria During Durga Puja Festivities

Guwahati, 24th October: Tragedy struck two business establishments in Bihpuria, Assam, during the vibrant Durga Puja festivities when a major fire rapidly engulfed the busy market area, reducing two shops to ashes.

Local residents suspect that the fire may have started after a lamp lit inside one of the shops was left unattended during the Durga Puja festival. Firefighters promptly reached the scene, but by then, both business establishments were completely consumed by the flames.

The affected shops belonged to Kanak Sarkar and Baban Sarkar, both brothers. The fire resulted in significant losses, estimated at approximately Rs 10-12 lakh, according to locals present at the scene. While a lamp inside one of the shops is suspected to have triggered the fire, the blaze did not pose a threat to the nearby HP Petrol Depot, preventing a more extensive disaster.

The incident serves as a reminder of the need for fire safety precautions, especially during festive occasions when candles and lamps are commonly used.
