Assam: Major Fire Erupts at Jagiroad Daily Market

Guwahati, 19th November: A massive fire erupted late last night at the daily market in Jagiroad, located in Assam’s Morigaon district. According to sources, the fire triggered the explosion of six gas cylinders, intensifying the blaze and causing it to spread to nearby shops.

The fire extensively damaged several shops in the market, with allegations from locals that the delayed arrival of fire tenders contributed to the destruction. Residents claim that the absence of nearby fire tenders resulted in a significant loss of property worth several lakhs.

Upon reaching the scene, four fire tenders worked to extinguish the flames after facing challenges in accessing the area. Locals also reported a delay caused by fire tenders being stuck at a railway crossing gate for about 30 minutes, prompting residents to remove the gate to facilitate the fire-fighting vehicles.

The cause of the massive fire is yet to be determined. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances that led to the incident.
