Assam: Major Heroin Seizure by Assam Rifles in Cachar District

Guwahati, 12th March: In a significant operation on March 11, 2024, Assam Rifles seized a substantial quantity of heroin valued at approximately Rs 68 lakh from the General Area Bagha of Chachar District, Assam.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Assam Rifles launched an operation in the specified area, resulting in the apprehension of one drug peddler and the confiscation of 97 grams of heroin.

The apprehended individual and the seized contraband were promptly handed over to the Dholai Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Additionally, in a separate raid conducted by the Special Task Force (STF) in Shanti-Nagar Path, Birubari, under the jurisdiction of the Paltan Bazar police station, significant items related to drug trafficking were recovered.

The targeted house, numbered 14 and owned by an individual named Abdul, yielded substantial evidence, including 137 vials of suspected heroin weighing 185 grams, 2530 empty vials, four mobile phones, Rs 727 in cash, and a small digital weighing machine.

The operation, conducted in the afternoon, marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
