Guwahati: A man has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife in Mariani area of Assam.
The accused has been identified as Lakshmiram Karmakar, who used a machete to murder his wife Chambari Karmakar.
Lakshmiram was ready to bury his wife’s body after killing her on Tuesday night when the incident occurred. Neighbors sensed something was wrong with the accused’s activities and alerted the authorities.
When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Chambari’s body and apprehended the perpetrator on the spot.
According to witnesses, the accused used to assault his wife while inebriated. On that specific night, he additionally used a wooden stick to strike her private areas.
Following the incident, a heated situation erupted, with residents demanding harsh punishment for the perpetrator.
