Guwahati: A 60-year-old has been arrested for allegedly raping an 8-year-old girl in Dhubri district of Assam.
The incident took place in the Dhuturamari village of the district.
The accused has been identified as Amjat Ali who is a resident of Kuti Village of Uttarakhand.
According to reports, the accused allegedly took the girl to his house and raped her by covering her mouth.
Apparently, the girl cried out for help which the neighbours and residents rushed to the spot and rescued her from the victim.
However, the accused who attempted to flee from the spot was apprehended by the locals.
It needs to be noted that he was later surrendered to Tamarhat Police Station.
