Guwahati: A woman was thrashed to death by her husband following a quarrel in Nagain district of Assam on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Lalungaon in Batadrava under the district.
The deceased was identified as Rupsana Khatun.
While addressing to media, victim’s sister claimed that the accused husband identified as Emradul Hussain frequently mistreated and physically beat his first wife.
According to reports, the couple got married three months ago.
The victim’s family lodged a complaint against Emradul at the Batadrava police station.
On the other hand, the husband Emradul Hussain claimed that Rupsana died after consuming detergent powder and denied killing his wife.
Meanwhile, the officials have detained the accused husband in this connection.
Moreover, Emradul a resident of Lalungaon under Batadrava police station and Rupsana hails from Dhania Bheti village in Nagaon.
It may be mentioned that further investigation is underway in this connection.
