Assam: Man Brutally Murdered in Kokrajhar after argument over money
Guwahati, 24th June: A tragic incident unfolded late Sunday night in Assam’s Kokrajhar district, where Derhasat Basumatary was brutally murdered by his colleague, Sokio Basumatary, following an argument over money in the village of New Amguri, under the Balajan police station.
According to reports, the confrontation escalated when Sokio Basumatary, also known as Baga Basumatary, allegedly slashed Derhasat’s throat with a sharp weapon, resulting in immediate fatality. Both men, residents of New Amguri, had been embroiled in a financial dispute that tragically culminated in this violent act.
Upon receiving the report, Kokrajhar police swiftly apprehended Sokio Basumatary late Sunday night. The body of Derhasat Basumatary was recovered and transferred to Kokrajhar Sadar police station for further investigation.
The local community has been deeply shocked and outraged by the incident, demanding stringent punishment for the accused and emphasizing the urgency of justice in response to this brutal crime.
