Guwahati: In a tragic incident, one person drowned in Mahur River in the Dima Hasao district of Assam on Thursday.
The incident occurred when a farmer attempted to cross the Mahur River in order to go farming.
The deceased farmer has been identified as Dorjon Thaosen. He was a resident of Thapa village in Mahur.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s body is yet to be recovered.
Rains pelted sections of Dima Hasao district again on Wednesday, after torrential rains cut the district off from the rest of the state last month.
