Guwahati: A person went missing after jumping into the Gelabeel River in the Golaghat district of Assam on Sunday.
The person has been identified as Bijoy Dutta. He lived in the Golaghat village of Khumtai.
Reportedly, the individual was in a car with his family. He came to a complete stop on a bridge. Bijoy jumped into the river from the bridge as his family members got out of the car to get something.
According to family members, the person had been sick for a few days. It is believed that the man chose to end his life by jumping into the river due to his illness.
Meanwhile, Dergaon Police has arrived on the scene and is conducting an investigation into the incident.
