Guwahati: A family land dispute turned violent after a man was killed by his own brother in Udalguri district of Assam.
The incident took place in Bhutuniduba village of the district.
The deceased identified as 52-year-old Asgar Ali.
According to reports, a long-standing disagreement over their shared land culminated to Asgar’s death at the hands of his own elder brother Akbar Ali.
Following the incident, Udalguri Police officials arrested Akbar Ali and his wife Hamida Begum.
Meanwhile, the locals alleged that Akbar Ali with his wife Hamida Khatun and his son Abdus Salam are involved in the “brutal killing”.
As per police, there has been a protracted argument between the brothers regarding the land.
The police also informed that the prime accused Akbar Ali have confessed to the crime.
Asgar was killed right there after the accused tied his hands with rope and assaulted him with a stick and bricks, police said.
