Assam: Man sentenced to life in jail for murdering in Dhubri

Guwahati, 28th December: In a noteworthy ruling, the Additional Sessions Judge at Bilasipara Court sentenced Litendra Barman to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 10,000 in connection with the brutal murder of Monica Barman on April 27, 2018. The victim, Monica Barman, fell prey to a land-centric clash in Chapar town, Bilasipara Sub-division of Dhubri district.

The case came to light when Babul Das, the victim’s son-in-law, reported the incident to Chapar Police Station. Litendra Barman, identified as the perpetrator, brutally stabbed Monica Barman to death. After more than five years, the court’s decisive verdict, delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Mukul Chetia, brings a sense of relief and satisfaction to the victim’s family while serving as a deterrent against criminal acts in the region.
