Assam: Man trampled to death by wild elephant in Dibrugarh
Guwahati: A 40-year-old man was trampled to death by an elephant in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Tuesday.
The deceased identified as Megnath Gowala who is a resident of Lezai area.
According to reports, the incident took place in the Sessa Nagaon village of the district, when Gowala walked out to graze his cattle when he came face to face with a wild elephant. He was mauled and killed by the elephant on the spot.
The dead body has been reportedly taken by the police for post mortem and further investigation into the matter is underway.
It may be mentioned that the locals claimed that wild elephants used to visit the area from the Dehing-Medla reserve and there were several incidents reported earlier also.
