Assam: Man trampled to death by elephant in Tinsukia

Guwahati, 4th July: In a tragic incident, a man was allegedly trampled to death by a wild elephant in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The incident took place in the elephant corridor near Dibrujan Bridge in Pengeri region of the district.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjeev Das.

As per sources, Das was a resident of Pengeri intersection.

The horrific incident occurred when he was on his way home on a motorcycle.

Soon after the accident, locals rescued the man and rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before receiving medical assistance.

Meanwhile, the Pengeri Khatangpani regional forest officer and the officer-in-charge of Pengeri police station rushed to the spot as soon as they got information about the incident.

The incident has sparked concerns among residents about their safety in areas where wildlife is prevalent.

Authorities are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. They are also considering additional precautions to mitigate future incidents and enhance safety in areas frequented by wild elephants.
