Assam: Man trampled to death by wild elephant in Udalguri

Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a 65-year-old man was crushed to death by a wild elephant in Udalguri district of Assam.

The incident took place at Dharamjuli village in Rajagarh area of the district.

The deceased identified as Ranti Rajbongshi.

According to reports, triggering panic among villagers the herd of wild elephant’s went on a rampage in region.

Meanwhile it is suspected that the wild elephant may have wandered around the village in search of food as the rains have severely impacted their food supply.

It needs to be mentioned that human-elephant conflicts have been on the rise in the region for some time, but that the forest department has done nothing to lessen the hazards, resulting in deaths in the area.

It needs to be noted that the people from adjacent regions such as Gosaihat, Pirpara, Sontala, Menepara, and Tiniali spend their evenings in fear.
