Assam Manhunt Launched in Ayodhya Following Double Murder

Guwahati: Ayodhya police are actively searching for a man hailing from Assam who is accused of the brutal murder of his wife and their young three-year-old son. The shocking incident occurred in the Bachhda Sultanpur area under Kotwali Nagar police jurisdiction, where the family had been residing for the past eight months, earning their livelihood as scrap collectors.

Preliminary investigations reveal the grim details of the crime. A senior police official confirmed that the woman succumbed to injuries inflicted by a sharp weapon, while their toddler son was tragically strangled. The deceased have been identified as Neshiya Begum and her son, Sahadkar Khandkar.

According to Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rajkaran Nayyar, a domestic dispute escalated tragically late at night. Following an argument between the husband and wife, the husband allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp object, resulting in her death. He then fled the scene.

SSP Nayyar further stated that two dedicated police teams have been dispatched to apprehend the accused. He assured that more comprehensive details surrounding the horrific incident will be disclosed once the suspect is apprehended and subjected to interrogation.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, SSP Nayyar said, “This morning, we received information regarding a murder in Kotwali Nagar. Initial observations and the account provided by the elder son indicate a quarrel between the parents last night. Subsequently, the husband attacked and killed his wife before fleeing. The family is originally from Assam and has been living and working in this area for the past eight months.”
