Assam: Massive Drug Bust in Sribhumi Nets YABA Tablets Worth ₹2 Crore, Two Arrested
Guwahati: In a significant victory against drug trafficking, the Sribhumi police in Assam have successfully recovered a substantial cache of illicit substances. Authorities confirmed the seizure of 10,000 YABA tablets, estimated to have a street value of approximately ₹2 crore, from the Sadarashi area.
The operation also led to the apprehension of two individuals believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade. This breakthrough underscores the relentless efforts of the Assam police in their ongoing campaign to combat the menace of narcotics within the state.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma promptly acknowledged the commendable work of the Sribhumi police. Taking to social media platform X, he expressed his appreciation for their dedication and reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug abuse under the #AssamAgainstDrugs initiative.
This latest success follows closely on the heels of another significant drug bust last week in the Cachar district. Chief Minister Sarma had reported the arrest of two individuals in Salchapra, Silchar, with a substantial haul of drugs valued at ₹4.5 crore. During that operation, law enforcement officials seized 847 grams of heroin and 4.035 kilograms of opium, further highlighting the persistent efforts to dismantle drug networks operating in the region.
