Assam: Massive Fire Guts Electronics Shop in Barpeta Road, Causes Crores in Damages

Barpeta Road, August 13 — A devastating fire broke out in Barpeta Road town in the early hours of August 13, causing extensive damage to a prominent electronics business, Geetanjali. The shop, owned by local businessmen Deepak Bengani and Laxmikant Bengani, was completely gutted in the blaze, with losses estimated in the crores.

The fire, which is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit, ravaged the shop and its adjoining warehouse, destroying all goods and materials stored within. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with locals watching in panic as flames engulfed the establishment.

Thanks to the prompt response of the fire brigade, the blaze was contained before it could spread to nearby structures. The Jhulan temple, located next to the electronics shop, narrowly escaped damage, and the residence of the Bengani brothers, situated adjacent to the business, was also spared. Fortunately, all family members evacuated safely and are unharmed.

An investigation has been launched to determine the precise cause of the fire, with initial reports pointing to a short circuit. The incident underscores the critical importance of electrical safety and fire prevention measures for businesses, particularly in densely populated areas.

As the town of Barpeta Road comes to terms with the aftermath, the community is rallying to support the Bengani family, who have suffered a significant loss in this tragic incident.
