Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Assam Police seized a huge quantity of Heroin and arrested one suspected drug peddler in Karimganj district on Thursday.
Following a tip-off, the police officials launched a search operation against drugs along the Assam-Mizoram border.
During the operation, the officials intercepted a vehicle along the border.
On searching the vehicle, 477 grams of heroin packed in 39 soap boxes and hidden inside the fuel tank and in a secret chamber in the mudguard of the vehicle was seized.
The consignment was coming from neighbouring state at Baraigram on Thursday night.
According to the police, the seized drugs are worth over Rs 3 crores in the international market.
It needs to mentioned that a legal action has been initiated into the matter and further investigation is underway.
