Assam: Massive quantity of foreign liquor seized in Jorhat
Guwahati, 19th July: In a major operation, a huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) has been seized in Jorhat district of Assam.
Acting on a tip off, the Borholla police officials under Titabar civil sub-division of Jorhat district along with the excise department seized a huge quantity of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) in Napalm Tinali of Titabor.
Sources informed that based on input with the excise and the police team, the raid was conducted at the shop in the area.
During the raid, the team found a huge consignment of liquor which as per the market rate was worth around Rs 50 thousand.
The liquor was stored for selling at a higher market rate illegally.
Sources further informed that the liquor consignment had no valid documents and was seized.
Notably, police officials are taking steps to crack down on all illegal places storing liquor and other such items.
Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated in connection with the seizure.
It may be mentioned that many times, liquor is sold in “black” at a higher market rate based on the place and time.
