Assam: Mastermind Apprehended in BJP MLA’s Granddaughter Abduction Case

Guwahati: Morigaon witnessed a significant breakthrough late Sunday night as Armanur Rahman, the primary suspect in the alleged abduction of BJP MLA Ramakanta Deuri’s granddaughter, was taken into custody. The arrest comes after an intensive manhunt following the incident, which has gripped the region.

The victim’s family had promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) detailing the forced abduction by a group of individuals. The Morigaon Sadar Police Station registered the case under number 78/25, invoking Sections 140(3) and 111(2)(B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), underscoring the severity of the alleged crime.

Prior to Armanur Rahman’s capture, law enforcement had apprehended four individuals connected to the case. Among them was a 17-year-old girl, who was subsequently granted bail by the Juvenile Court. The other three, identified as Bhabhajit Medhi, Fizulat Rahman, and Abinash Thakuria Rahman, were remanded into police custody. Notably, Fizulat Rahman is Armanur Rahman’s father.

A coordinated effort involving the Morigaon Police, Guwahati City Police, and Golaghat Police culminated in the successful rescue of the abducted young woman. The apprehension of the alleged mastermind marks a crucial development in the ongoing investigation.
