Guwahati: In a horrific incident, a medical student of Diphu Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in Diphu under the Karbi Anglong district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room.
This was informed by police officials on Monday.
The boy has been identified as Kamal Brahma who was a resident of Bokajan in East Karbi Anglong district.
According to reports, the first-year MBBS student allegedly took the drastic move to end his life yesterday night after becoming anxious over his subpar performance on the semester exams.
Reportedly, the first-semester exam results were announced four days ago.
The body of the deceased has been sent for a post mortem at DMCH.
Meanwhile, the incident has been reported to the family members of the deceased.
Further police investigations underway.
