Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah Labels Bhupen Borah as ‘Joker’ in Political Arena
Guwahati, 5th April: During a media interaction in Lakhimpur, Assam Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah made headlines by labeling Bhupen Borah as a ‘joker’ in the state’s political landscape. Mallabaruah confirmed speculations of Borah’s potential switch to the BJP, terming it as ‘absolutely confirmed’.
Responding to Borah’s ambitious claim of becoming the chief minister within three months, Mallabaruah extended an open invitation for Borah to join the BJP if he harbored such aspirations. He criticized Borah’s plea for public financial assistance, suggesting it reflects a focus on collecting ‘donations’. Mallabaruah hinted at Borah’s likely BJP affiliation post-election.
Campaigning for BJP candidate Pradan Baruah in Lakhimpur, Mallabaruah expressed confidence in Baruah’s victory, predicting a substantial margin of approximately 6 lakh votes. He downplayed the influence of opposition parties in Lakhimpur, accusing them of being preoccupied with financial matters.
Addressing rallies at Banhagra, Phulbari, Madhya Naobaisa, and Ghilamara in Lakhimpur, Mallabaruah rallied support for Pradan Baruah, urging voters to deliver a resounding victory.
In a legal turn of events, Bhupen Kumar Borah, the president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), initiated a defamation lawsuit of Rs 10 crore against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The lawsuit stems from alleged derogatory remarks made by Sarma against Borah, suggesting his imminent switch to the BJP by 2025. Borah has vehemently denied claims of leaving the Congress party for the BJP, with the case officially registered in court.
