Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika Inspects Dredging Project on Jarashar River

Guwahati, 15th June: Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika on June 15 conducted an inspection of the ongoing excavation work along the Jarashar River in Balipara, Sonitpur under Kamrup district. Accompanied by Hon’ble MLA Krisna K. Tanti and departmental officials, Minister Hazarika assessed the dredging efforts aimed at revitalizing the river’s flow and ecological health.

During the visit, Minister Hazarika expressed optimism about the project’s impact, stating, “This morning, I inspected the excavation work of Jarashar River in Balipara, Sonitpur. To make the water flow seamless, the Water Resource Department has taken the initiative to dredge 7.5km of the river. With the completion of the project, I am sure Jarashar River will be able to restore its glory.”

Dredging is essential for maintaining navigability, preventing flooding, and preserving aquatic ecosystems. The inspection underscores the government’s commitment to addressing water management challenges and promoting eco-friendly solutions for the region’s water bodies.

Revitalizing the Jarashar River is significant not only from an ecological perspective but also for enhancing water access for communities and supporting agricultural activities in the region.
