Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika Visits Landslide Victims at Imphal Hospital
Guwahati: Assam water resources minister, Pijush Hazarika visited the victims from Assam of Wednesday’s landslide in Manipur on Saturday at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal of Manipur.
The cabinet minister reached there on directions from Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Five residents from Assam who were injured in the big landslide were reportedly receiving medical attention at the hospital.
Hazarika spoke with three of them and assessed their state of health.
The state minister informed that all five victims are in stable condition and will be flown back to their homes on a special flight.
The victims will be brought back to Assam tomorrow at 11.15 am with Hazarika in tow on a flight operated by Air Asia.
It may be noted that at least seven people from Assam including one army personnel were killed in Tupul landslide in Manipur’s Noney district, informed Hazarika.
The minister said, “One railway engineer and 11 additional construction workers from Assam remain missing. Five residents of the state have been saved.”
He added that the Union Government is providing the state with all feasible logistical support for the rescue efforts.
