Assam Minister to Visit landslide-hit site at Tupul in Noney district
Guwahati: Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika will visit to the neighbouring state of Manipur to supervise the ongoing efforts to rescue Assamese citizens who are still missing after a landslide struck Tupol in the state’s Noney district on Wednesday night.
This was informed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma through his official twitter account.
He wrote, “Saddened to learn that 1 person from Morigaon, Assam lost his life, 5 are undergoing treatment & 16 still missing in the Manipur landslide. Cabinet colleague Shri @Pijush_hazarika will be reaching Manipur as early as possible to coordinate in rescue ops.”

Reportedly, Hazarika, who is now in New Delhi, will arrive in Manipur on Saturday morning.
It may be mentioned that a resident of Assam’s Morigaon district lost his life in the Manipur landslide. He has been identified as Gupal Phukan of Lawbhurunga village.
Meanwhile, five people have been rescued and are receiving medical attention, while at least 16 people from the district are still missing. All of the Morigaon residents who were injured in the tragedy were labourers building railroad tracks.
The landslide has also left one person missing from the Nalbari district.
Deputy Commissioner P R Gharphalia of Morigaon paid a condolence visit to the grieving family at the deceased’s home on Friday morning.
