Assam: Miscreants try to kidnap infant from SMCH; arrested
Guwahati, 6th October: Sensational events unfolded last night at Silchar Medical College & Hospital when three individuals, comprising two women and a man, were apprehended while attempting to abduct an infant from the maternity ward. The trio was caught in the act as they tried to abscond with a newborn from the hospital premises.
According to reports, the two women entered the maternity ward around midnight, where they appeared to be searching for newborns. At that moment, one of the mothers in the ward was awake, tending to her crying newborn. The two women persuaded the mother to allow them to comfort the baby, claiming they could calm it down. However, once they held the infant, they hastily fled the ward in an escape attempt. The mother’s distress calls drew the attention of hospital staff, prompting swift action from hospital security, who apprehended the two women outside the hospital and ensured the baby’s safety.
The police promptly arrived at the scene, and based on statements provided by the two women, a man was also detained in connection with the incident. All three culprits have been arrested.
