Assam: MLA Aminul Islam Resigns from AIUDF After Lok Sabha Election Debacle

Guwahati, 10th June: In the aftermath of a resounding defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections, Aminul Islam, an MLA representing the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) from Assam, resigns from the party’s primary membership.

Islam, who served as the MLA for the Mankachar Assembly constituency, tendered his resignation to AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal, acknowledging full responsibility for the party’s dismal performance.

AIUDF faced a notable setback in the elections, with its chief suffering a significant defeat to Congress’ Rakibul Hussain in Dhubri. The party, contesting in three parliamentary seats, failed to secure victory in Dhubri, Karimganj, and Nagaon, where the Muslim community holds considerable influence.
