Assam: Mob Burns Vehicles on suspicion of Cattle Theft
Guwahati, 22nd April: In an agitated response to suspicions of cattle theft, a mob took matters into their own hands, torching two vehicles allegedly involved in the incident. The chain of events unfolded following the arrival of three individuals believed to be intent on stealing cows, who were apprehended by vigilant residents.
Eyewitnesses detailed how the commotion erupted when a luxury vehicle bearing the license plate number AS01-DK-7214 was identified as transporting the stolen bovines. The three cows were promptly handed over to Dharamtul police, highlighting the gravity of the situation. Additionally, a Tata war vehicle numbered AS01-QC-5575 was also set ablaze, underscoring the escalating tensions.
The alleged perpetrators, identified as Musarikul Islam, Morshidul Islam, and Gulzar Hussain Alli, were swiftly captured by community members who remained on high alert. A local resident, speaking to the media, echoed the collective sentiment, emphasizing the crucial role of cattle in sustaining livelihoods within the community. “Cattle breeding supplements the income of many in our community. When miscreants attempt to deprive them of this source of sustenance, it affects us all,” remarked the concerned individual.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges faced by rural communities in safeguarding their means of livelihood against criminal elements. It underscores the importance of collective vigilance and swift action in preserving the fabric of rural life.
