Assam: Morigaon District Jail Superintendent Receives Imprisonment Warrant for Jayanta Mudoi in POCSO Case
Guwahati, 18th September: The Superintendent of District Jail, Morigaon, has been issued a warrant for the imprisonment of Jayanta Mudoi, who has been convicted in a POCSO case. The conviction was pronounced by NA Ahmed, Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (POCSO) Morigaon.
Mudoi, son of Prafulla Mudoi from Maskhowa village in Morigaon district, was found guilty under Section 376(2)(i) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He has been sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for ten years and fined Rs. 20,000. Should he default on the payment, he will face an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment.
As per Section 428 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Mudoi’s three months and eleven days already spent in custody will be set off against his sentence. The Superintendent of District Jail, Morigaon, has been authorized to take Mudoi into custody and implement the sentence as ordered. This directive was issued on 18th September 2024.
