Assam: Morigaon District Schools Alter Timings Amid Heatwave; Focus on Student Well-being

Guwahati, 25th May: Responding to the intensifying heatwave conditions, educational institutions in Morigaon district have revised their schedules to prioritize student well-being. The decision, announced by the District Commissioner, Morigaon, takes effect from May 25th, 2024, aiming to mitigate the impact of rising temperatures on students.

The updated timings for schools across various categories are as follows:

  • Lower Primary Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
  • Upper Primary Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 01:15 P.M.
  • Secondary & Higher Secondary Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 01:55 P.M.

This directive, endorsed by the District Commissioner, underscores the administration’s commitment to safeguarding students’ health and comfort during extreme weather conditions.

The adjustment in school timings aims to minimize students’ exposure to the scorching heat, particularly during peak hours. By rescheduling operational hours, authorities seek to create a conducive learning environment while ensuring students’ well-being remains paramount.

The announcement clarifies that the revised timings will remain in effect until further notice, allowing schools the flexibility to adapt their schedules accordingly. As the heatwave persists, the district administration urges students, parents, and educational stakeholders to adhere to the revised timings and take necessary precautions to mitigate the adverse effects of soaring temperatures.
