Assam: Morphine Worth Rs 11 Crore Seized in Major Karbi Anglong Bust

Guwahati: In a significant triumph against the narcotics trade, Assam Police have seized a massive cache of morphine, valued at approximately Rs 11 crore in the international market, from the Karbi Anglong district.

The seizure, which occurred late on August 26, saw officers recover 10.71 kg of the illicit substance, hidden ingeniously within a truck near the Assam-Nagaland border.

The operation unfolded during a routine patrol at 6 Mile in the Dilai area, where the suspicious vehicle was flagged down.

A thorough search revealed the contraband stashed meticulously behind the driver’s seat. Two persons traveling in the truck were immediately apprehended and are currently in police custody.

Authorities have initiated legal proceedings against the duo, treating this as a major breakthrough in their relentless campaign to dismantle drug supply networks plaguing the region.

The successful interception underscores the growing cooperation and vigilance of law enforcement agencies in tackling the cross-border drug menace.
