Guwahati: A massive fire in Assam’s Chabua resulted in the burning of a one-year-old infant and her mother on Sunday.
According to reports, the incident occurred at Betioni village in Chabua’s Panitola in the Dibrugarh district of Assam.
Locals informed that the mother and child were killed in a house fire that started while they were both asleep.
Moreover, the house was totally gutted in the massive fire.
The firetenders from Tinsukia were rushed right away to put out the fire but they did not get there in time to save the mother and kid.
The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. The deceased woman was identified as 22-year-old Punam Gowala, who died along with her infant, Ramesh.
According to Tinsukia Police, an inquiry into the incident has been started and after it is finished the cause of the fire will be revealed.
