Assam MP Gaurav Gogoi Accuses BJP of Disrupting Parliament Over Controversial Remarks

Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of derailing parliamentary proceedings following repeated controversial remarks by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. The accusations come amid a heated exchange in the Lok Sabha, where Dubey alleged a nexus between the Congress party and US-based billionaire investor George Soros, claiming it was aimed at derailing India’s progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Gogoi, expressing frustration on social media, stated that despite multiple letters submitted to the Speaker requesting privilege proceedings against Dubey, no action had been taken. “Yet all our pleas have been ignored, and the BJP MP is allowed to continue with his rants,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). He pointed out that Dubey’s name continued to appear on the list of speakers, describing it as part of a broader BJP strategy to disrupt the functioning of Parliament.

In retaliation to Dubey’s claims, Congress members had earlier warned that the House would not function if the BJP MP was permitted to address proceedings.

This latest development highlights growing tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress in Parliament, with accusations and counter-accusations fueling a charged political environment.
