Assam: Mysterious Disease Wreaks Havoc on South Sootea Potato Crops
South Sootea: A mysterious disease has cast a dark shadow over the potato fields of South Sootea, leaving farmers reeling from devastating crop losses. The unidentified blight has rapidly spread across the region, turning lush green fields into barren wastelands.
The disease, characterized by wilting leaves and premature plant death, has struck fear into the hearts of farmers who rely heavily on potato cultivation for their livelihood. Acres of potato fields have been decimated, leaving farmers with significant financial losses.
Local farmers expressed their deep concern over the situation. “We have invested heavily in these crops, only to see them wither away,” lamented a distraught farmer. “The lack of timely intervention from agricultural authorities has compounded our woes.”
While reports of a similar outbreak emerged from a nearby village, the absence of proactive measures allowed the disease to spread unchecked to other areas, including No. 1 Adaveti and No. 2 Kumalia.
Desperate to salvage their crops, some farmers have resorted to spraying pesticides, but these efforts have yielded little success. As the crisis deepens, farmers are urging agricultural experts to investigate the cause of the disease and develop effective control measures.
The outbreak has highlighted the urgent need for robust agricultural extension services and early warning systems to prevent such disasters in the future. The farming community of South Sootea now anxiously awaits a solution to this perplexing problem that threatens their livelihoods and food security.
