Assam: NDA Clinches Major Victory as UPPL’s Nirmal Kr Brahma Wins Sildi Bye-Election by Landslide Margin
Assam: In a landmark victory for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), United Peoples’ Party Liberal (UPPL) candidate Nirmal Kr Brahma triumphed in the 31 Sildi (ST) Assembly constituency bye-election. Brahma defeated his closest rival, BPF (Bodoland People’s Front) candidate Suddha Kumar Brahma, with a resounding margin of over 36,888 votes, reinforcing the NDA’s growing influence in the region.
The announcement of the results sparked jubilant celebrations at the vote-counting center in Kajagaon. Leaders and workers from the UPPL, BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party), and AGP (Asom Gana Parishad) joined hands to revel in the victory, showcasing the strength and unity of the NDA alliance. Party workers were seen dancing to the beat of traditional drums, waving flags, and chanting slogans of triumph, marking the occasion with festive fervor.
Nirmal Kr Brahma’s victory is being hailed as a significant boost for the NDA, particularly in Assam’s tribal-dominated Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The win is credited to the coordinated efforts of the alliance, which undertook an intensive campaign to secure the constituency.
Speaking on the victory, Assam Cabinet Minister UG Brahma lauded the collaborative efforts of NDA partners in securing the seat. He was joined in the celebrations by prominent leaders such as MLA Jalen Daimary, BTR Chief Pramod Boro’s Political Adviser Madhab Ch Chetry, and BTR MCLA Sajal Singha, all of whom highlighted the alliance’s commitment to the development of Sildi and its people.
“This overwhelming win is a reflection of the people’s faith in the NDA’s vision for growth and development. It also underscores the unity and hard work of UPPL, BJP, and AGP leaders in bringing this victory to fruition,” said a local BJP representative.
