Assam: Neglect of Indira Gandhi Children’s Park in Bokakhat Raises Concerns

Guwahati: The Indira Gandhi Children’s Park, situated on Diffloo Road in Bokakhat, has fallen into a state of disrepair, sparking worries among local residents. Once a dedicated play area for children, the park has become a hub for alcohol consumption, further deteriorating its environment.

The park’s current condition is alarming, with broken play equipment, unhygienic surroundings, and a lack of maintenance. Despite receiving government funding for renovations, the park remains unfit for young visitors. The absence of safety measures, proper sanitation, and cleanliness makes it unsuitable for families.

Residents have expressed frustration over the inaction of the Bokakhat Municipal Board, which is conveniently located next to the park. The missing nameplate of the park reflects the administration’s indifference to the issue. Locals are urging authorities to take immediate action to restore the park and ensure it serves its original purpose of providing a safe recreational space for children.
