Assam: New Daily Flight Route Announced; Delhi to Jorhat to Start in October

Guwahati, 27th July: Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi has announced that a new daily flight route between New Delhi and Jorhat, eastern Assam, will commence in October. The route, operated by SpiceJet under the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, will utilize a 189-seater aircraft.

In his statement, Gogoi highlighted that Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed the introduction of this route, emphasizing its significance for enhancing connectivity to Jorhat. The new service aims to boost both business and tourism by providing more convenient travel between the national capital and this key Assamese town.

Currently, Jorhat is served by flights to Kolkata, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur, operated by IndiGo. Earlier this month, Gogoi had raised concerns about the lack of direct flights to Delhi on social media, citing the inconvenience and high costs associated with limited air connectivity.

Following his social media post, Gogoi met with Naidu in New Delhi to address these issues. He informed the minister about the challenges faced by Jorhat residents and requested the reinstatement of direct daily flights. Gogoi expressed optimism about the prompt action taken to improve regional connectivity.
