Assam: New FM Transmitter Inaugurated in Kokrajhar, Bringing All India Radio to the BTR

Assam: The Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) ushered in the New Year with a significant boost to its communication infrastructure. Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, virtually inaugurated a 10-kilowatt FM transmitter of All India Radio (AIR) in Kokrajhar today.

This landmark event marks a new era in radio broadcasting for the region, promising enhanced connectivity and access to information for its residents.

The virtual inauguration was held in Guwahati, with Minister Vaishnaw emphasizing the government’s dedication to strengthening communication networks in remote areas. He highlighted the FM transmitter’s crucial role in ensuring seamless dissemination of news, educational content, and entertainment to the people of Kokrajhar and surrounding regions. A local celebration was held at the auditorium of Kokrajhar Science College to commemorate the launch.

BTR Chief Pramod Boro expressed gratitude to the Central government for prioritizing the region’s development. He emphasized the transmitter’s role in bridging communication gaps between the government and its citizens, while also fostering the preservation and promotion of Bodo culture and traditions. Boro stated, “This FM transmitter will bring the voice of All India Radio closer to the people, creating a platform for information, education, and cultural exchange. It symbolizes a step forward in integrating Kokrajhar into the broader communication network of the nation.”

The new FM transmitter is poised to deliver high-quality radio services, providing clear and reliable broadcasts of news, educational programs, and entertainment.
