Assam: New SOP for International Flights

Guwahati: Following the increasing number of Omicron variant of Covid-19, the Assam government has issued new guidelines for international flights.

In the fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), the government make the RTPCR mandatory on the arrival of Assam for International passengers and also mandate 7-day home quarantine compulsory for those who test negative for the COVID infection.

The state health minister detailed the new SOP, saying that all overseas travellers coming in Assam will be required to undertake a mandatory COVID-19 RT-PCR test. Children under the age of five have been excused, according to Mahanta.

A test will be required if any youngster under the age of five years old from any foreign nation is discovered to show symptoms of the deadly infectious virus.

Travellers who test positive for coronavirus infection will be required to follow the Assam government’s standards, and their samples will be sent for genome sequencing to determine the COVID variation, according to Mahanta.

According to a statement released by the Assam government, international travellers who test negative upon arrival would be required to undertake a seven-day home quarantine.

International travellers will be closely monitored by the district officials, who will ensure that they follow all routines.

People who want to fly out of or into Assam must first fill out a self-declaration form on the “Air Suvidha” portal before embarking on their trip.

The participants will be required to give travel records over the last 14 days as well as a negative RT-PCR analysis that is no more than 72 hours old, according to the statement.

If anyone is proven to have submitted false information, they will face criminal charges.

The travellers have been requested to sign a document stating that they will follow all COVID standards set by the Assam government. Before embarking on the travel, the undertaking must be submitted by airlines on the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s portal.
